ZTE mobile built for Vodafone

New handset targeted at European market

After announcing a Rugby game sponsorship and improvements to its Twitter service, news has broken of a new mobile phone that has been created by the manufacturer, ZTE, for use by Vodafone. In fact, as you can see by the accompanying images, the new handset already holds the Vodafone logos.

To be known as the Vodafone 545, the new design looks like a smartphone complete with a full QWERTY keyboard.

However, observers, on closer inspection, actually think this handset is not a smartphone at all and that the QWERTY keyboard is just a numeric keypad. Thus, the model must be targeted towards the budget arena, according to the Gadget Folder website.

Featuring a landscape display, the Vodafone 545 will include GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity and a featured internet browser, more than likely supplied by Opera, as well as Bluetooth to connect wireless accessories such as a headset.

You also get a music and video player along with an FM radio that completes the entertainment package. A low spec 1.3-megapixels camera is also included as will a microSD card slot to increase the internal memory. A built-in torch is also a useful accessory.

There is no word on release dates or price as yet.
